PA public school districts spend an estimated $3 billion in taxpayer money on mandatory tuition payments to cyber charter schools, which are often inflated and pay charter schools more than their actual cost of educating a student.

Looking for a way to help with food insecurity? Consider donating items at Giant this week and next week!

The Wildcat Wellness Committee is reaching out because we would like your help! We have successfully been able to run a Girls on the Run Program here at the district for several years. However, we have never been able to secure a program for the boys until now!!!
We would like to start the Let Me Run program here at Halifax for boys in grades 3 and 4. To start, we are looking to have a head coach and a few assistant coaches to run the program.
“Let Me Run is a nonprofit wellness program that inspires boys to be themselves, be active, and belong. With a comprehensive curriculum that applies the power of running, the program encourages boys to develop their psychological, emotional, and social health, in addition to their physical health. Twice a week for seven weeks, two trained volunteer coaches lead an elementary or middle school team through practice. Designed to amplify confidence, self-expression, and respect for others, each practice includes a lesson from the Let Me Run curriculum that incorporates running, games and activities. Each fall and spring season culminates in a 5k race festival that celebrates the boys’ personal growth.”
We are hoping to start this in March with the ending of the program being around our Country Crawl 5K, April 29th. Practice would occur twice a week for seven weeks. Practice times would be 3:30/3:45-4:45/5pm. If this sounds like something you would love to be a part of starting or would like more information, please reach out to Brooke Yeager at yeagerb@hasd.us.
Wildcat Wellness Committee!

The Wildcat Wellness Committee is still in search of a head coach and an assistant coach or two for our elementary Girls on the Run program. The program is for any girl in third and fourth grade. “Girls on the Run inspires girls of all abilities to recognize their individual strengths, while building a sense of connection in a team setting. Coaches will facilitate lessons that blend physical activity with life skill development to enable girls to adapt to whatever comes their way. At the end of the season, the team competes in a 5K together, which provides a tangible sense of accomplishment and sets a confident mindset into motion.” The program would run after school every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30pm-5:00pm for ten weeks. The season would begin the week of February 27th. Registration has begun!!!! If your daughter is interested in being a part of the program, please see the attached flyer (there is also a paper copy being sent home with your daughter) for more information. You can also visit their website https://www.gotrmidstatepa.org/ to sign up.
If you are interested in joining our coaching staff in any capacity or have any questions, please email Brooke Yeager at yeagerb@hasd.us.
