The School Board of Directors hope everyone had a wonderful first day of school!
At an advertised special Board meeting held on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, the School Board approved the resignation of Dr. David Hatfield due to personal reasons. The School Board, Administration, Faculty, and Staff extend our thanks to Dr. Hatfield for his many years of service at Halifax Area School District.
We are pleased to welcome Mr. Tyler S. James and Mrs. Carla A. Sauer to fulfill the role and responsibilities of the office of the Superintendent. The District was fortunate to have these experienced administrators willing to accept this joint acting role.
Mrs. Sauer will continue to lead the district in all educational aspects, while Mr. James continues to guide the district in finances, personnel, and all other support operations.
As evident on last evening’s agenda, the contract for Acting Superintendent will be voted upon for a six-month term. The Board will continue to work diligently over the next six months to consider the next step for a permanent superintendent.
The Board will also continue to be transparent throughout the process and provide public updates via Board meetings, published agendas on Board Docs, and the school website.
The School Board thanks you for your continued support as we navigate this process together without interruption to the student’s learning environment.
