ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Oversee all aspects of curriculum, instruction, and assessment to meet the needs of all students in providing the foundational knowledge, skills, and opportunities for lifelong success. Acts as the instructional leader of the District.

  • Ensures that the District’s educational objectives and programming are aligned to the Pennsylvania’s Standards Aligned System framework and to instructional practices that yield the highest standard of excellence, student achievement and growth, and community support throughout the curriculum and across all grade levels.

  • Create, organize, and facilitate the implementation of professional learning for the instruction staff including teachers and paraprofessionals.

  • Provide District level oversight of the MTSS, PBIS, and curriculum review programs and processes.

  • Collaborate with the building principals and Director of Special Education to ensure the efficacy of the District’s teacher supervision protocols.

  • Facilitate the Instructional Team’s meetings in support of all curriculum, instruction, and assessment initiatives.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attends School Board meetings and provides reports to the full Board relative to Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment.

  • Provide leadership in preparing the annual budget with specific responsibility for the expenditures related to instructional materials, consultants, workshop programming, professional development and in-service training.

  • Conduct teacher observations as directed by the Superintendent.

  • Lead the development of the District’s strategic and comprehensive planning process.

  • Coordinate the mandated trainings and certification for the professional staff (Act 48).

  • Actively participate in the review, revision and development of District policies and associated administrative regulations related to curriculum, instruction, and assessment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree or above in Educational Administration, PA Administrative or Curriculum and Instruction Certification

  • Minimum of five years of classroom teaching experience

  • Minimum of five years of experience as an educational administrator, preferably as a building principal with teacher supervision experience

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with excellent interpersonal skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to perform physical activities such as, but not limited to, sitting, standing, lifting, bending, climbing, and/or walking. Person must be able to communicate verbally and to hear with no more than 40-decibel hearing loss. Vision clarity of near, far and mid-range (less than 20 inches and more than 20 feet) is needed. Depth perception and ability to identify colors is recommended.

JOB SUMMARY: In close collaboration with the superintendent and building principals, this position is primarily responsible for all aspects of curriculum development and implementation, classroom instruction and assessment for kindergarten through twelfth grades.
