Position Title: Director of Technology

Job Description: The Director of Technology is an Act 93 administrator with district-wide responsibilities for the overall planning, coordination and implementation of technology for the school district, including providing leadership in the use of technological delivery systems for instruction and management functions. The Director of Technology will work in collaboration with the faculty, administration, support staff and students to maintain a high quality, innovative and cost-effective digital framework designed to integrate the use of computer hardware and software, websites, web-based applications, services and resources, and communications technologies for the purposes of:

·        Providing digital learning experiences for all students.

·        Supporting digital tools for instruction, assessment and professional development.

·        Sustaining the digital operation of classrooms, schools and the school district.

·        Supplying accurate and relevant information to District stakeholders and the broader community.

Central to the maintenance of a high quality, innovative and cost-effective digital framework is the development, implementation and maintenance of a technology plan that measures its effectiveness based on the seamless integration of digital technologies for student learning, teaching and the management of classrooms, schools, and the school district as a whole.

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

·         Serves as the System Administrator for technology applications or services for the purposes of ensuring proper access to technology systems by students, staff, and parents (handling setup, configuration, rollover, etc.).

·        Maintains technology equipment including but not limited to servers, phone systems, intercoms, clocks, surveillance cameras, network, etc.

·        Develops, implements and monitors the Technology Department budget.

·        Manages procurement, inventory, and surplus of technology equipment, ensuring that needed contracts and purchases are approved and fiscally responsible consistent with local, district, and state regulations.

·        Develops and maintains effective relationships with vendors and consultants that support efficient, cost-effective services to the district.

·        Prepares a variety of documents, reports, and materials (policies, emails, correspondence, budget, plans/drawings, specifications, estimates, PIMS, etc.) for the purpose of providing information to support district operations, in collaboration with the Superintendent, Business Manager, and Board of Directors.

·        Directs the installation of technology systems and tools for the purpose of ensuring the safe, timely, and efficient installation of technology equipment (hardware, software, systems, wiring, specialized applications, etc.).

·        Attends various events such as meetings, training sessions, conferences, Board meetings, etc. for the purposes of communicating and/or gathering information required to perform the functions of the job and provide guidance to stakeholders.

·        Supervises technology staff and maximizes efficiencies within the team, establishing adequate controls such as physical security, virus protection, spam filtering, internet filtering, and data backup.

·        Maintains the district website to ensure contents are relevant, timely, and informative.

·        Manages the routing and completion of HelpDesk tickets.

 ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Complete other duties as assigned.

 QUALIFICATIONS:

●       Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in a related field required.

●       Minimum of 5 years of technology experience in education preferred.

●       Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.

●       Knowledge and problem-solving ability for technical issues affecting learners required.

●       Ability to quicky adapt to changing goals, priorities, and needs required.

●       Superior organizational and time management skills required.

●       Knowledge of classroom technology including Smart Boards, projectors, cameras, sound systems, etc. highly desired.

●       Knowledge of student information systems preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Position requires stooping, crouching, reaching with hand and arm, standing in a stationary position, walking at moderate speeds, use of fingers. Person must be able to communicate verbally and to hear with no more than a 40-decibel loss. Vision clarity of near, far and mid-range vision is needed (less than 20 inches and more than 20 feet). Depth perception, ability to focus on objects clearly, with field of vision and ability to identify colors is recommended.
