During the 2009-2010 school year, the school was awarded a grant from the Verizon Foundation.  A team of teachers worked collaboratively with The Pennsylvania Department of Education and Verizon's Thinkfinity Database to create intricate lessons for the Standards Aligned System.

In the spring of 2011, The Shippensburg University School Study Council recognized The Discovery Process as an Exemplary Program.
