Halifax Area High School students must accumulate a minimum of 22 credits and meet one of the ACT 158 graduation pathways (listed below) to receive a diploma.  

In accordance with the requirements set forth by the Pennsylvania Department of Education and Act 158, students graduating in 2023 and beyond must meet ONE of the following pathways to meet the statewide graduation requirement:

  • Keystone Proficiency Pathway

  • Keystone Composite Pathway

  • Alternate Assessment Pathway

  • Evidence-Based Pathway

  • CTE Concentrator Pathway

All students who are to graduate in any given year must pass 6 credits their senior year even if they have accumulated the minimum number of credits and have the appropriate combination of earned credits. This requirement is to assure that students who have accumulated nearly enough credits their first three years do not take a less vigorous approach to their senior year.

Advanced (93 - 100)

Proficient (80 - 92)

Basic (70 - 79)

Below Basic (69 & lower) 

Honors: In order for a student to earn the Honor Roll, the student must have an average of 86% - 94% in all subjects with no grade lower than an 86%.

Distinguished Honors: In order for a student to earn the Distinguished Honor Roll, the student must have an average of 95% - 100% in all subjects with no grade lower than an 86%.

 

Academic Awards

Students will be recognized at the end of 8th and 12th grades. 

Middle School qualifiers will receive SILVER medals.  High School qualifiers will receive GOLD medals.

 

Middle School Level -  Students who have achieved a 93% average for each of the four grade levels.

High School Level -  Students who have achieved a 93% average for each of the four grade levels.

Note: the eighth and twelfth grade averages will be determined by the student's grades at the end of the second marking period.
