Letters to Our Soldiers |
|
The activity started years prior to the war based on the response a student had upon receiving a letter while at basic training. Since the war effort, Letters has become a dynamic organization that changes with the needs and requests of the brave men and women it serves. Past activities include writing letters, collecting used cell phones to exchange for military phone cards, mailing pillows, sheets, bikes, tools, cookies, personal care items, reading material, soccer balls and small dolls, Christmas and Valentine letters and packages and any other item that has been requested. With the assistance of Ms. Traci Aunkst, the student packages included a DVD created by some of her students. Mrs. Tonya Usuka and the Service Learning students have also assisted in past efforts.
Comfortable travel clothing in excellent condition is still needed for the Emergency Leave Unit in Kuwait. Our men and women who must come home for emergencies need civilian clothing to travel in, including shoes, outerwear and underwear.
List of requested items Please remember that smaller containers are easier to mail and easier for our soldiers to store. Please bring in items that are useful. For example canned peas and 2004 issues of AARP magazines might not be something that a soldier would find useful.
Thank you for your support!
